About the Connemara Chamber

The Connemara Chamber is a voluntary organisation based in Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland. It was established in 1992 to promote sustainable economic development for the benefit of the people of Clifden and the wider Connemara region. It plays a central role in representing local business interests, supporting tourism and advancing community-led initiatives. The Chamber acts as a critical link between business, government and community stakeholders, advocating for infrastructure investment, promoting regional tourism and co-ordinating major local events that enhance the area’s vitality and economic resilience. With over 130 members spanning a diverse range of business and community groups, The Chamber is an active organisation, keeping business and community groups informed of all that is happening in the region and beyond.

Connemara Chamber welcomes the Galway Ring Road

The major Connemara Housing, Planning & Roads Survey commissioned by the Connemara Chamber in 2024 showed an overwhelming 94% of the almost 900 respondents were in favour of the Galway City Ring Road. The survey findings were furnished to An Coimisiun Pleanála and highlighted that the ring road is considered vital by locals for improving access to Galway City and reducing regional traffic congestion. Clifden Gears Up for a Bigger and Better St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2026

Clifden is preparing for what promises to be another vibrant and memorable St. Patrick’s Day Parade, with organisers hoping to build on the tremendous success of 2025, which was widely regarded as the largest parade the town had seen in 20 years. The 2026 parade will officially kick off at 12.30pm, with floats gathering on the Galway Road from 12.00pm. This year’s parade will be led by special Grand Marshals, James and Conor Canavan, Clifden’s latest musical exports, who recently brought great pride to the town by winning All-Ireland medals at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford. Organisers are expecting around 20 floats, all of which will be judged from the gig rig by a panel of distinguished guests. With strong St. Patrick’s Day traditions in neighbouring areas such as Roundstone, Letterfrack and Claddaghduff, organisers say there is friendly competition to put on the very best parade possible. A special welcome will also be extended to Vassar College, New York, whose representatives will take part in the parade. Connemara Chamber Appoints Its First-Ever CEO

Connemara Chamber is delighted to announce the appointment of Siobhán Roche as its first-ever Chief Executive Officer. Following the success of the Chamber’s Win A Home in Clifden initiative in 2025, this appointment marks the achievement of one of the long-stated objectives of the current board: to put in place a full-time, paid CEO to lead and manage the Chamber’s work on behalf of its members and the wider Connemara community. The Chamber undertook an extensive eight-week external recruitment process, managed by 2into3, a consultancy with specialist expertise in executive search and recruitment within the social impact and nonprofit sectors. The final candidate evaluation process was led by 2into3, with valuable support from Kenny Deery, former CEO of Galway Chamber and current Programme Manager of the West Regional Enterprise Plan at Galway County Council. Siobhán Roche holds a master’s in business administration from NUI Galway and brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to the role. She comes from a family business, the Rock Glen Country House Hotel, giving her a solid background in tourism and hospitality management.
